About · Specs

A multi-timbral
instrument.

Brume is a standalone instrument with four synthesis engines, twenty-four voices, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a single USB-C cable that bridges it to any DAW as a class-compliant audio and MIDI device.

Its engines draw from four distinct lineages of electronic instrument design: a dual-oscillator Complex architecture with through-zero FM and wavefolding; an additive Harmonic engine with Gaussian spectral scanning; a Serge-style Timbral oscillator with wave-multiplier shaping; and a Granular engine that synthesizes pitched clouds of micro-oscillators from scratch.

Headline facts

  • Four synthesis engines across independent parts, each with 6 voices of polyphony.
  • Meridian — one USB-C cable carries audio, MIDI, and clock to macOS, Windows, and Linux. No drivers.
  • Lua 5.4 scripting for sequencers, control scripts, and custom audio effects with hot-reload.
  • Purpose-built firmware on a real-time Linux kernel over Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5.
  • Off-the-shelf BOM — four components and one cable; the instrument is in the firmware.
“Four engines, one cable, a scripting surface that reads like a score.”

Usage guidelines

Use the wordmark with the lozenge preceding BRUME in all capitals. Preserve clear space equal to the height of the lozenge. Do not tint, stretch, or apply effects. Do not pair with unrelated taglines. If in doubt, write.

“It boots in seconds, plays for hours, and a Lua script rewrites what it does while you’re holding a chord.”
